I find funny how "Battle: LA", a movie where both the title and the premise are peak cliché, actually puts effort into giving the aliens actual good writing. - The aliens are really after a rare natural resource - The aliens actually use good tactics - The military is actually smart - Our weapons can kill them.

Don't forget to have them pull a solution out of their ass at the last second and then go "Actually everything that has happened in the plot so far has been according to my plan. I actually think 20 steps ahead and have 50 backup plans at all times" because that's totally how smart people think

Whole lot of people railing against the good=dumb and evil=intelligent dichotomy. That's fine but everybody keeps talking like its unrealistic? Like every major human leader wasn't basically a dark lord to some group or other? And like the pattern of our existence isn't consistently idealism being quashed by realism? I mean go ahead and tell me how many heroic politicians we have in the US. If you named a single one, you're lost to propaganda because we have none. Zero. They're literally all evil in a verifiable almost measureable capacity. Goodness and intelligence have never correlated in any species. Goodness and cruelty, though....

As a side note, having your comic relief character who kick starts all the bad things that happen through idiocy, stupidity, or clumsiness actually turn out to be the evil mastermind hiding in plain sight can be an interesting plot. Like the Darth Jar Jar theory.

Don’t forget that a story doesn’t have to start grimdark to be improved by it. For best results, write a normal enough story, then right before the climax, pull whatever convoluted stuff you need to suddenly turn it into an edgy mass murder spree of the characters you spent the entire story knowing and interacting with, with everything that happened in the story just being thrown away in favor of pointless edginess and cheap shock value. Nope, not basing this comment off of any garbage RPG maker games I’ve played, nope. Especially not one with FUBAR development priorities and a lazy and insane head developer that stalls development via unnecessary overhauling of the entire game every update, wasting time on entirely unnecessary stuff and sudden long vacations for patreon subscription bucks (when the game itself is based on an IP owned by DMCA lovers) when he’s not taking TWA at face value while using it as a checklist Don’t know where you’d get that idea.

I can't believe I disliked this video. (I changed that!) I kid you not when I was doing a story rp where it was more of a free handwriting with friends I created an overpowered villainess because you know the villain is supposed to be hard to defeat. (FYI she is more developed now and maybe I remember things wrong take my word with a grain of salt.) The person who made the gc was so irritated he sent this video and I sat there thinking, "Yeah that's the point of a villain........". It's hilarious looking back. Keep up the good work my guy these videos help me look out for what I need improving on!

I was going to comment about my take on _A Christmas Carol_ parodies, but my idea isn't that translatable to English. Anyways: I like how everyone usually makes the past ghost bored, the present ghost jolly and the future ghost eerie. If I were to take on the trope, I'd make it so the past ghost specifies early on (classic case of past Christmas Ghost not being taken seriously) that she officially is the imperfect past of indicative ghost, and at some point that the past perfect ghost recently got fired, implying that there's a Christmas ghost for every verbal tense.

I'm actually planning to write a sort of sci-fi/post-post-apocalliptic/urban fantasy story, where i might have gotten around the magical world (and magic in general) being hidden. However, for this to be, the world must have been recently come into contact with the fantasy stuff. The idea is that... the goverment wuold hide stuff like faeries, magic and humans with superpowers because that wuold cause wide spread panic. They wold still be allowed to live a free life, but under goverment surveillance. Kind of like the theories of the goverments hiding aliens, UFO's etc but instead with faeries and wizards. I've literally just came up with this.

The tactics of "gang up on the hero" is a nifty idea, but is very flawed Take for example scene from Frank Miller's Wolverine The popular one where he goes to Japan There was a kabuki theater Logan and Muriko attended to figure out what to do with her situation of an arranged marriage. The thespians were actually assassins in disguise and attacked Muriko, Logan reacted accordingly and took them all out He had answered the question without it being asked The assassins had to be careful with their attacks because they might accidentally hit one of their buddies, whereas Wolverine could hit anyone he wanted A scene from Tombstone A mob was about to raid the jail and Wyett stood outside daring anyone to step forward. True, he only had 12 rounds, but that means he would take at least 12 people down with him if they decided to rush him Batman: Arkham Asylum You're literally Stealthing around like a damned ninja, and kicking ass like Chuck Norris, how are henchman supposed to compete with that? Sure there's been moments where you had to think differently about usual tactics at some point, but he's still a ninja who stomps ass like Chuck Norris Mooks aren't stupid, they have a self preservation feature that that keeps them alive. When confronted with a capable and competent person, they only appear to be stupid, because the Mooks are dealing with a person who is capable and competent and knows what they're doing Yeas, there have been scenes when the hero was cornered and did get the shit kicked out of him Put at his lowest, his most desperate and darkest hour But that only made the retribution all the sweeter

I part way read through a LN where the Alpha is almost everything you describe, except for the werewolf part. Until every thing starts spiraling down hill and the story stagnates on the two characters arguing constantly on who's right to the point they are not talking to each other and jealous of each others imaginary ideas of cheating. It's seems like the writer just hit a wall they couldn't get past so the story suffers because there is no reconciliation between the two characters. It got monotonous and boringly mind numbing so I dropped it.

You can pretty much play a Tournament by having the Players pit their characters against each others. You only need a players handbook and character sheets.
